2021 NFL Draft: Five NFL stars who could be traded during the draft
By Kyle Edmond
Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta Falcons
The 2020 season continues to somehow get worse for the Atlanta Falcons as each week they seem to find a new way to lose. What could come of that this offseason is a complete overhaul of the franchise. They’ve already fired the General Manager and Head Coach, so clearing out the roster might be next.
One player at the top of the list will be Julio Jones. Jones still has up to three years left on his contract, but given the Falcons’ struggles this season and Jones’ inability to stay healthy throughout his career, this departure might work for both sides.
In 2020, Jones has been battling injuries, but when he’s healthy he produces. He’s still averaging almost 90 yards a game, but the problem has been that he’s missed two already. If Atlanta wants to get younger and transition towards a core of Calvin Ridley and their new drafted quarterback, Jones could be shown the door.
It was only two years ago that Jones led the league in receiving yards and he’s had at least 1,100 yards in each season that he’s been healthy for at least 14 games. Like Thomas, it might just be time for a change of scenery on both sides of this equation. Should Jones be made available, the Falcons should easily receive a first-round selection and more.
