2021 NFL Draft: Five NFL stars who could be traded during the draft
By Kyle Edmond
Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Cleveland Browns
While I’m in the camp that thinks Odell Beckham Jr. could eventually work out well in Cleveland, his season-ending injury could spell out the end of his tenure with the Browns after just one and almost a half of a season.
The play that Beckham was hurt on was the first offensive play for the Browns in the game on Sunday against the Bengals and it looked like Baker Mayfield once again forced the ball to Beckham for an interception. With Beckham then out of the game with the injury, Mayfield went on an absolute tear, going 22-of-27 (81%) for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
If Mayfield hits his groove the rest of the season with a wide receiver unit that consists mainly of Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones, plus the running backs and tight ends, then the Cleveland Browns might need to reconsider Beckham’s future with the team.
The chemistry between Mayfield and Beckham has been inconsistent at best since his arrival prior to the start of the 2019 season that cost the Browns their first-round pick in that draft. If Mayfield now returns to his 2018 form with Beckham off the field, then Beckham could easily see himself traded again, this time for a pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
