The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a free-fall toward Ohio State’s Justin Fields.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been free-falling for the past six weeks, dropping six straight games since winning their 2020 season-opener.

The 2021 NFL Draft is going to be a fun one for Jacksonville Jaguars fans, as the team already has multiple first-round picks from the Jalen Ramsey trade, multiple second-round picks from the Yannick Ngakoue trade, and plenty of other selections besides.

The Jaguars obviously have to revamp their entire roster, but there had initially been a very strong case made by quarterback Gardner Minshew that the Jaguars might be able to keep riding Minshew and possibly even build around him with the way he was throwing the ball.

Nothing is off the table at this point, but six straight losses and some talk of benching Minshew for veteran Mike Glennon during the Jaguars’ broadcast on Sunday don’t bode well for Minshew’s long-term status as a starter.

He’s shown he can play well in the league, however, and the Jaguars are fortunate to have him on the roster and under team control for at least a few more seasons.

With that being said, the Jaguars have plummeted now to the third pick in the 2021 NFL Draft with nine games to play. It’s way too early to consider that their final landing spot by any means, but if the Jaguars continue losing games and the Jets keep pace, it could be that Jacksonville’s free fall is going to lead them straight to Ohio State’s Justin Fields.

Fields played a tremendous game as the Big Ten returned to action this past Saturday, strutting some top overall pick stuff.

Fields showed off not only his arm talent and accuracy, but he was reading the field very well, making plays on time, and really putting on a show with his mobility.

The Jaguars have been collecting capital for the 2021 NFL Draft obviously banking on this class being foundational for the future of their team. It seems logical they will want to start with the quarterback position, especially if they lose enough games to finish within the top three picks.

With Trevor Lawrence the presumed top overall pick, it’s logical to start connecting Fields to the Jaguars if their losing continues.
