LSU WR Terrace Marshall Jr. continues to boost 2021 NFL Draft stock
LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. is starting to take his 2021 NFL Draft stock to the next level.
The 2021 NFL Draft class is absolutely loaded with talent at the wide receiver position, but Terrace Marshall Jr., the talented pass-catcher out of LSU, is becoming impossible to ignore. In LSU’s 52-24 win over South Carolina on Saturday, Marshall piled up six receptions for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
While all of his production came in the first half of the game, Marshall absolutely abused the South Carolina secondary in this game. He was primarily matched up against South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn, who is commonly considered a possible first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This showing will obviously raise the profile of Marshall, but it is just the latest in an impressive four-game showing for him this season.
On the year, Marshall now has 27 receptions for 512 yards and nine touchdowns. He multiple touchdown receptions in each of his four games and has been one of the most dynamic weapons in all of college football all season long. Marshall is eating up SEC defenses and is not likely to slow down anytime soon.
Marshall wins with an impressive combination of size (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) and speed at the position. He is a smooth route-runner who shows easy athleticism and the ability to win at all three levels of the defense. Marshall also has extremely strong hands and shows plenty of ability as a contested-catch receiver.
Simply put, he is an extremely talented pass-catcher who appears to specifically have a nose for the end zone. He has a knack for creating plays after the catch and is a dangerous weapon in the red zone. This kind of size/speed combo is rare and Marshall is more than an athlete out there making plays. He is a smart and precise player who knows how to get the most out of his high-level talent.
Marshall is undoubtedly on track to be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and if he keeps this up, he could quickly become one of the premier offensive players in this entire class.
