Wide Receiver

If you ask a casual fan to name two starting receivers for the New York Jets do you think they can do it? I’m really not sure. The one thing I would knock Joe Douglas on was not bringing back Robby Anderson.

He replaced him with Breshad Perriman who’s been a huge disappointment. He’s been out with injuries but hasn’t been a factor when healthy. He’s back this week playing with former teammate Joe Flacco so we’ll see how that goes.

2020 second-round pick Denzel Mims has been out with hamstring injuries since the start of camp, so there is hope and potential that he could be a big-time target for whoever is the quarterback next season.

The New York Jets seem to be destined for the number one pick so I doubt they’ll look to fill this need with their first selection, however, the second round should be filled with receivers who can contribute right away like Ohio State wideout Chris Olave. They also have a second first-round pick via Seattle from the Jamal Adams trade. They could grab a pass-catcher with that selection as well.

Simply put, the New York Jets must significantly upgrade their receiving corps for whichever young quarterback they go with in 2021.
