2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 12th Overall

60. Scouting Report. IOL. player. Wyatt Davis. 12. Pick Analysis. Ohio State

Taking an offensive guard this early may not seem like the best use of resources. That being said, Wyatt Davis is a special offensive guard prospect who needs to be taken seriously in this range.

Davis does a great job of getting off of the ball quickly and is absolutely dominant at the point of attack. He is an aggressive run blocker who shows strong hands and simply manhandles most opposing defenders. Davis is an incredible blocker in a phone booth, and also shows the quickness needed to make blocks at the second level.

While Davis shines more in the run game, he is certainly capable as a pass protector as well. Davis is better when he is allowed to attack forward, but he can get back into his pass sets and protect the quarterback.

The Minnesota Vikings want to build their offense around Dalvin Cook and the running game. While it feels like an odd strategy in the modern NFL, a run-based team taking a dominant offensive guard like Davis would certainly make some sense. He is a dominant player up front who would help take this Vikings’ offense to the next level.
