Mike Zimmer, Minnesota Vikings (1-4)

This is now Mike Zimmer‘s seventh season in Minnesota and his entire tenure has been a roller coaster. He’s never had fewer than seven wins with the Vikings, but he also hasn’t won nine games or more in consecutive seasons. After starting the 2020 season at 1-4, Minnesota might be considering finding a way off the ride.

After going 7-9 in his first season, being 2014, Zimmer hasn’t posted a losing record since. He was close in 2016, going 8-8, and then again in 2018 with an 8-7-1 showing. However, the years surrounding those have been great. The 2015 season ended at 11-5, the 2017 season at 13-3 and then 2019 at 10-6.

Even with those strong seasons, the inconsistency is a concern. This year, the Vikings’ defense is a shell of what it has been in the past which could be a reason Minnesota keeps Zimmer, blaming the shortcomings on the roster rather than the coach.

While he hasn’t struggled the way the other names on the list have, Zimmer could still be on the hot seat by the end of the season and going into the 2021 NFL Draft. There’s still plenty of time to right the ship, but the early part of the season has been much different than what Viking fans have grown used to.
