Anthony Lynn, Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)

It was only two years ago that Anthony Lynn led the Los Angeles Chargers to a 12-4 record, but back-to-back seasons of struggles could spell the end of his tenure with the team prior to the 2021 NFL Draft.

It’s often said that the NFL is the league of “what have you done for me lately” and that could be the reason to look at for Lynn. He’s proven himself to be a successful head coach, going 9-7 in his first season and then 12-4 in his second, but last year that fell off a bit.

The Chargers finished 5-11 a year ago and are now off to a 1-4 start in 2020. Lynn could be given the benefit of the doubt with the transition to a rookie quarterback this year, but his leash would be short if the team doesn’t bounce back this year and he returns for the 2021 NFL Draft and season.

In the event that Lynn is let go at the end of the season, he should be at the top of team’s list for head coaches when searching. Like I said, he’s proven he can win, he just hasn’t recently. If the right team calls him up should the Chargers let him go, Los Angeles could be left wishing they kept him a few years down the road.
