3. Offensive Tackle

Finally, for the offensive tackle truthers.

The Broncos should be looking into ways to keep Garett Bolles around beyond 2020. They declined his fifth-year rookie option, but they are undoubtedly going to be open to extending him with his play over the final five games of 2019 and the first four games of 2020.

They shouldn’t be jumping to give him $20 million a year or anything, but Bolles has earned a raise and an extended stay in the Mile High City.

Because Ja’Wuan James opted out of the 2020 season, his contract will toll. The Broncos are financially strapped to James beyond this season, so hopefully he can provide some actual value in 2021 to the team after missing all of 2019 with knee issues.

Because of the uncertainty of James, the offensive tackle position becomes a bit more of an essential move than the circumstances with Garett Bolles.

Offensive tackle still needs to be on the to-do list, but it doesn’t need to be number one, not unless Garett Bolles walks in free agency.
