Is Garett Bolles’ performance affecting the Denver Broncos’ 2021 NFL Draft needs?

Heading into the 2020 NFL season, the Denver Broncos had arguably the most questionable offensive tackle situation beyond this year of any team in the league.

Left tackle Garett Bolles has been a penalty machine since he came into the league out of Utah in 2017, while right tackle Ja’Wuan James opted out of the 2020 season after missing almost the entire 2019 season with knee issues.

This situation had offensive tackle atop nearly every Denver Broncos 2021 NFL Draft needs list, but is Bolles affecting that situation?

We’ll get more into the details of that in a bit.

John Elway has assembled a pretty strong young roster in the Mile High City, but his players have unfortunately been bitten by the injury bug in 2020.

Starting with future Hall of Famer Von Miller, Broncos players have been going down seemingly by the bunch. Top wide receiver Courtland Sutton joined Von Miller on injured reserve, along with cornerback AJ Bouye, defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, Jurrell Casey, Mark Barron, and backup right tackle Elijah Wilkinson on injured reserve.

Quarterback Drew Lock, the player the Broncos built around this offseason, has also missed most of the past three games with a shoulder injury.

Needless to say, John Elway and Vic Fangio are not getting the best possible look at the roster they have assembled.

So what are the Broncos’ top needs heading into the 2021 NFL Draft season? Is it too early to crown Bolles?
