1. Quarterback?

Now here we have a huge debate among those in Duval County.

Do the Jaguars actually need a quarterback with the way Gardner Minshew has played?

Minshew has now started 16 games for the Jaguars, and the team is 7-9 in those starts. Most teams would take that kind of success from a young quarterback, especially considering in that 16-game sample, Minshew has thrown for this stat line:

  • 63.4 percent completion percentage
  • 4,409 yards
  • 29 touchdown passes
  • 10 interceptions

It’s impossible to ignore that kind of production, not to mention the fact that Minshew has orchestrated four game-winning drives in his time with the Jaguars.

It’s become abundantly clear this team needs more talent all over the roster, but do they really need to make quarterback their number one need in 2021?

Although three straight losses have caused the luster of Minshew Mania to dwindle a little bit, it wouldn’t be ridiculous by any stretch for the Jaguars to continue building around this guy and see how far it can take them.

Would they pass on a talent like Trevor Lawrence for him? I don’t know about that. Would they pass on a Trey Lance or Justin Fields?

That’s difficult to say.

I don’t think the Jaguars would mortgage their draft capital to get one of those guys and if they finish outside of the top 10 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, I think there’s no question that quarterback will be low on the priority list.
