New York Giants the new leaders for Trevor Lawrence in 2021
The New York Giants are the new 2021 leaders for Trevor Lawrence.
Another week of NFL football, another new leader in the 2021 Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. This week’s ‘winner’ — the New York Giants.
The Giants already have 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones on the roster, but if they lose their way to the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, there’s almost no doubt they would take Lawrence instead.
As a matter of fact, there are likely very few teams in the NFL that would have a real case to say they were going to pass on Lawrence if they earned the top overall pick.
The Giants’ roster has a ton of holes on it and they are currently dead last in the NFL this season averaging under 12 points per game.
Yikes.
There’s no doubt that Daniel Jones has something to do with that, having thrown just two touchdowns compared to five interceptions in four games.
Unless Jones is able to dramatically change course for both he and the Giants, how could Joe Judge and the Giants front office pass on Lawrence?
Lawrence has been surgical in the early portion of the 2020 season, though nobody really expected anything else from him.
He’s been tremendous since he stepped foot on campus for Clemson and remarkably, he’s lived up to and even exceeded some of the lofty expectations people had for him coming out of high school.
Lawrence is the latest can’t-miss prospect at the quarterback position up there with guys like Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning as no-doubt top overall picks.
The New York Giants are not alone in pursuit of the top overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The New York Jets are also 0-4 to start the season, along with the Houston Texans. The Atlanta Falcons also have yet to win a game at 0-3 before their Monday Night Football matchup.
The Giants’ next three games are divisional matchups at Dallas, at home against the Washington Football Team, and then on the road for Thursday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.
