The Miami Dolphins are actually an interesting team when it comes to this particular discussion.
Is the presence of Tua Tagovailoa enough to keep the team from drafting Trevor Lawrence?
Probably.
Can you make an argument that if Tagovailoa does absolutely nothing in 2020 at all that the Dolphins should at least consider Lawrence with the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft if they get it?
Definitely.
If Tagovailoa doesn’t show anything, or actually plays poorly, or worse — gets hurt — the Dolphins might consider using one of their two 2021 first-round picks on Lawrence if one of them is number one overall.
I still think that’s very unlikely.
The Dolphins are letting Tua get back into the groove physically and mentally and they are okay with whatever happens out on the field in the meantime.
