TRADE: Vikings trade 14th pick, future 1st-round pick to Jaguars

The Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars have already come together on a big trade in 2020, why not make it another in 2021?

The Vikings could be looking to move on from Kirk Cousins sooner rather than later after the 2020 season. While they are undoubtedly stuck with Cousins in 2021, they don’t have to be stuck with him in 2022 and can shave off $35 million in cap space by cutting him after 2021.

If Cousins doesn’t start playing better than he has to open the 2020 season, the Vikings may be inclined to make a move sooner, but they might be financially strapped.

One way or another, Cousins is approaching his mid-30s and if he is not playing at a high enough level to make the Vikings contenders, they could take a page out of the Packers’ playbook and draft their QB’s heir apparent a little earlier than anticipated just so he can get into the offense and get ready.

Trey Lance going to Minnesota would just ignite that region of the country with excitement as many NDSU faithful are also passionate about the Vikings.

Lance was incredible in his first starting season at North Dakota State, passing for 28 touchdowns with no interceptions and rushing for over 1,100 yards and 14 scores.
