Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 48. EDGE. Wake Forest. Carlos Basham. 27. player

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could go a variety of directions in the 2021 NFL Draft depending on which pick they wind up with, but you can never have too many good pass rushers.

The argument for a player like Carlos Basham here is pretty simple.

You have Jason Pierre-Paul past the age of 31 at this point and he has a relatively low $5 million dead cap charge in 2021.

Shaquil Barrett led the NFL in sacks in 2019 and is a free agent after signing the franchise tag in 2020.

Considering all of the potential for change in the Buccaneers’ vaunted defensive front seven, it’s not out of the realm of possibility to think this team could very well wind up looking at an EDGE player in the first round, especially one like Basham.

Basham is a tremendous athlete with positional versatility to play inside and outside and get a good rush on, but he’s also strong enough to set the edge against the run.
