This matchup against Army presents a great opportunity for Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder to boost his 2021 NFL Draft stock.

The 2021 NFL Draft class is going to be extremely interesting at the quarterback position. Trevor Lawrence stands out as the top signal-caller in the class, followed closely by Justin Fields and Trey Lance. If these three top quarterbacks end up declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, they will all likely be top-five selections. However, the drop off to the fourth quarterback is currently steep.

Right now, there are a top of possible QB4 options with each having plenty of questions about their game. When the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around next April, we could easily see three quarterbacks in the top five, and then not another signal-caller off of the board until the middle of Day 2. Simply put, the class is waiting for a legitimate QB4 to establish himself as a legitimate option.

Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder stands out as one of the most interesting players at the position in the middle range and certainly has an ability to take that QB4 crown. His performance against Army on Saturday could go a long way towards boosting his 2021 NFL Draft stock.

Talented quarterback prospect

Riddler is an impressive dual-threat quarterback prospect who shows impressive athleticism and fantastic natural arm talent. He is a big and powerful runner who can pick up tough yardage on the inside and has the speed to make big plays in the open field. Ridder has the arm to hit any throw on the football field, but he does struggle to indentify coverage at times and his accuracy is inconsistent at best.

Riddler undoubtedly has an exciting skill-set that fits the modern NFL well, but he is currently a project player who will need signficant growth to be successful at the next level. That being said, his raw upside alone could be worth taking a shot on in the middle rounds.

This weekend, Ridder will lead Cincinnati in their toughest test of the season, as they play host to Army. This Army team has impressive talent on both sides of the ball and undoubtedly plays disciplined football. Ridder will not get many opportunities against high-level defenses this season, but this matchup against Army is certainly one. If he comes out and performs well, it could pay off in a big way when it comes to his 2021 NFL Draft stock.
