New York Jets

Current QBs: Sam Darnold, Joe Flacco, James Morgan, Mike White

The New York Jets could be in a similar position as Washington when the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around and it won’t be Sam Darnold‘s fault. Darnold barely has an offensive line in front of him, his running back got hurt, and whatever weapons he thought he was going to have in the passing game are also hurt.

The reality, though, is that if the Jets end up with the first pick, which is seeming increasingly more possible, they can’t pass on Lawrence. The situation at hand has drastically hurt Darnold, but passing on Lawrence would be a mistake for whoever holds the top pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Despite not having much to throw to and little time to make a decision, Darnold is still keeping his head above water. His QBR is at 45.0 (28th in the league) and his passer rating is 82.6 (27th in the league). Those aren’t awful given the circumstances, but Lawrence would be an upgrade.

When it comes down to it, Lawrence might be the only quarterback worth taking for the Jets, but should Adam Gase somehow remain the head coach for the entire season, then finishing with the worst record in the league is very possible for New York.
