2021 NFL Draft: Rondale Moore is opting back in for the season
2021 NFL Draft: Purdue WR Rondale Moore is opting back in for the 2020 season.
When there was not really any clarity about whether or not there would be a college football season for certain major conferences, big-name players started making business decisions and opting out, instead opting for the 2021 NFL Draft.
One of those players was Purdue Boilermakers star wide receiver Rondale Moore, a guy who drew some Heisman talk after his awesome freshman campaign.
With the Big Ten returning to action in October instead of sometime in 2021, Moore (who is not alone) has decided to opt back in for the 2020 season and will hope to enhance his 2021 NFL Draft stock.
As a freshman at Purdue, Moore caught 114 passes for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns, also adding 213 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well as over 700 kick and punt return yards.
Needless to say, Moore was a threat to score literally every time he touched the ball for the Boilermakers and that’s why he had such huge expectations going into the 2019 season.
Unfortunately, those huge expectations were shut down when Moore suffered a hamstring injury that really hindered his season and limited him to just four games.
Even with his decision to opt out in 2020, it seemed like Moore would be destined for the top 40 selections in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has a dynamic skill set and is so good in the open field with his speed, quickness, and vision as a ball carrier.
Now, he’s going to get the opportunity to prove on the field that he’s a top NFL Draft selection.
Although Moore in just 5-foot-9, he’s falling more in line with a new breed of smaller receiver prospects coming up from the college ranks who can not only be threats vertically but also after the catch, and in more ways than just being fast.
Moore has dynamic speed and quickness, but he’s also physical after the catch, something you don’t see all the time from receivers who check in at 190 pounds or less.
It’s going to be fantastic to see him on the field sooner rather than later.
