Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is showing why he’s the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Since he was in high school, Trevor Lawrence has been hyped up as the next ‘Andrew Luck-caliber’ quarterback prospect, and many have had eyes on the 2021 NFL Draft specifically for Lawrence since before he even took a snap at Clemson.

Lawrence has not disappointed, and in his third season with the Tigers is looking as good as he ever has.

Lawrence has a little bit of everything as a young quarterback prospect — arm talent, accuracy, poise, mobility, moxie, and great touch on his deep throws.

There’s no doubt that Clemson will face better opponents than they did over the weekend in The Citadel, but even if he were making these throws on air, it would have NFL scouts absolutely giddy.

If Lawrence had thrown an interception or played poorly against The Citadel, people on the internet would have certainly used that as a reason to knock Lawrence for playing bad against bad competition.

A lot of people were critiquing Lawrence’s performance against The Citadel on Saturday, writing it off as efficient production against a team full of scrubs, but as you can see, it’s not like Lawrence is throwing to a bunch of wide-open receivers here.

There is no such thing as a throwaway game when it comes to evaluating talent. Lawrence is showing here not only the ability to look off safeties, make tight-window throws, drop the ball in the breadbasket, and play efficient football, but he’s also showing that even in a game he could probably have not taken as seriously as others he is not taking plays off and he’s not giving anything thing less than his best.

That is a level of leadership and the ‘intangible’ quality that Lawrence has that makes him a truly elite prospect.
