2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, Pick 6

Virginia Tech. 31. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Caleb Farley. 6. player

The New York Giants did invest in the cornerback position over the offseason when they signed James Bradberry to a major free-agent contract. However, the rest of the position is certainly a bit of a mess and Caleb Farley does stand out as one of the most talented prospects available on the board.

Farley is a 6-foot-2, 207-pound cornerback prospect who began his college career as a wide receiver. While he did not stay at the position long, it is easy to see why Virginia Tech liked him on the offensive side of the ball, this prospect has an impressive combination of size and natural athleticism and attacks the ball in the air extremely well.

Farley is a smooth athlete who mirrors opposing receivers extremely well and shows elite level click and close ability. He is also physical and aggressive at the line of scrimmage, consistently making life difficult on opposing receivers in press coverage. Essentially, Farley is a big, quick and athletic cornerback prospect who is sticky in man coverage and has tremendous ball skills. What more could you want?

The Giants could certainly use help at many positions, but cornerback is undoubtedly a need and an important position for the team going forward. Farley is a true shutdown cornerback in the making and would be an ideal addition for the Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft.
