2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, Pick 17

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OL. Alex Leatherwood. 17. 60. Alabama. player

It has been a tough start to the season for the Minnesota Vikings, but they are still a talented team that could turn it around and make a run in the NFC North. No matter how Minnesota ends up finishing the season, they could certainly use some help on their offensive line, with needs at the position at both guard and tackle.

In this 2021 NFL Draft scenario, Alex Leatherwood stands out as a strong option for this team here at No. 17. Leatherwood has shined at both guard and tackle throughout his college career and stands out as a player who will translate well to the next level.

Leatherwood is an extremely aggressive offensive lineman who fires off of the ball quickly and shows tremendous power at the point of attack. He does a great job of securing the first level as a run blocker and has the quickness to secure the second level as well.

Leatherwood is also extremely active in pass protection, doing a nice job of getting into his vertical pass sets quickly and always continuing to look for work. Simply put, he is a rock-solid offensive lineman who could make an impact at either guard or tackle at the next level.
