Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold enters the 2020 NFL season under head coach Adam Gase once again. Darnold came out of college with all the tools. He had the arm talent to make any throw on the field, and the touch to hit intermediate and deep throws. Darnold was a good athlete who could make throws on the run and take off when need be.

The first two seasons for Darnold have been littered with inconsistencies. He’s had some outstanding games, like last season against Dallas, where he completed 71 percent of his passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns en route to a win. However, he also saw ghosts against the Patriots, completing 11 of 32 and throwing four picks. Turnovers were always a huge concern for Darnold, as he always challenged the defense and believed he had his first read open.

The New York Jets addressed the offensive line in the offseason, but their wide receivers are dropping like flies in camp ahead of the 2020 NFL season. He does have Le’Veon Bell as a security blanket this year as well.

The Jets are a lackluster roster right now, and Darnold will have to find a way to be efficient this season. If New York ends up with the first overall pick, Darnold could be out of a job without a strong year.
