2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 6 (New York Giants, 3-13)

Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. player. Pick Analysis. Defensive Back. 6. 31. Scouting Report

The Giants are another team in the middle of a rebuild and they thought the cornerback position was coming along, but an off-the-field issue with former first-round pick D’Andre Baker has caused a bit of a setback for the team. This is where Caleb Farley comes in.

Baker was one of just two defensive players that GM Dave Gettleman has selected in the first round since taking over in New York and was panning out to be a pivotal piece in their rebuild for the secondary.

With the release of Baker from the team, Gettleman and the Giants should once again be in the market for a cornerback this year and Farley has been regarded as one of the best in this class. This class might not be as strong as past groups, but Farley is still a strong defensive back with a bright future in the NFL if given the right opportunity.

He really only has two seasons of tape, but in those seasons he has 19 passes defended and six interceptions, including one pick six. That downfield coverage ability to either snag or knock down the ball is what Baker brought to New York and what Farley can replace.
