2021 NFL Draft: Bears land top pick in preseason 2021 NFL mock draft

2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 29 (Dallas Cowboys, 12-4)
The Dallas Cowboys could be in an interesting position come draft time that we don’t normally see from teams this late in the draft. They should be looking for the best player available.
Most teams picking in the late first have one big need to fill or depth concerns to address, but in the case of the Cowboys, they have solid starters with youthful backups at the majority of the spots on the roster.
However, one spot that has been under constant scrutiny in Dallas over the last few seasons has been their safety play. They were rumored to be looking at Earl Thomas when he signed in Baltimore, and still could be now, and they also were hopefuls in the market of Jamal Adams.
The Cowboys don’t necessarily need a starting safety, but rolling the dice on a player at the position in the late first with upside is a pick that seems to fit what they’ve been doing lately. It isn’t a screaming need, but an upgrade could make a difference.
Hamsah Nasirildeen is just that, a player with high upside. In 2019 he totaled 101 tackles after having 91 in 2018. During the 2019 season, he also forced three fumbles, recovered one, intercepted two passes and took one to the house.
He would be an upgrade at safety for the Cowboys and could serve as the center fielder of the defense to scope out the play and find the ball one way or another.
