2021 NFL Draft: Bears land top pick in preseason 2021 NFL mock draft

2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 14 (Los Angeles Chargers, 7-9)
It seems like every year we talk about how the Chargers need to invest draft picks in the offensive line, and even when they do the same things come up the next year. Well, here we go again.
With a new young quarterback in Justin Herbert, the Chargers need to make sure he is protected and taking Alex Leatherwood will anchor the left side of the line for a long time.
Currently, Los Angeles is set to roll out Sam Tevi as their left tackle and Bryan Bulaga as their right. Both of which will need to be upgraded. Tevi just isn’t cut out to be a starting left tackle while Bulaga is nearing the end of his career.
There are still a few holes on the offensive side of the ball for the Chargers, with the offensive line being the biggest. Once those holes begin to be filled, this defense is ready to compete at a high level meaning the Chargers should have a quick turnaround on their hands.
The key to all this will be the success of Herbert, which we won’t have a strong grasp on for another couple of years at least. Until then, the Chargers just have to assemble pieces around him for success and blocking his blindside should be the top priority.
