Mocking the 2021 NFL Draft with preseason projections
With the 2020 NFL season underway, we’ll take another stab at mocking the 2021 NFL Draft before the season officially starts.
With the developments coming in from around the league and team’s camps, the vision of the new season is becoming more clear each day, but the college landscape is a bit different.
For some teams, the 2020 college football season is already underway, for others it won’t start until later in the year, if at all. Regardless, this season is seeing a totally different approach to the draft process than we’ve seen in the past.
Teams will have to get creative in the evaluation process for a few different reasons. During the normal draft process of the combine and pro days, some teams will be playing their season. It will be interesting to see how teams go about that process, but that could be the least of their worries.
The bigger barrier could be the players that are opting out of the season and how those players will be evaluated. Some have already solidified themselves, like Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell, but others are in a case that their tape will have to stand against the competition that will have another year under their belt.
Regardless, the 2021 NFL Draft will be a time for teams to improve like always. Although the process might look a bit different this time around, the goal is the same. For teams at the top of the draft, it will be just as important to land the right pick as before.
Like my last mock draft, I went through the NFL schedule and looked at each game to see who would come out on top to form a new opinion of the upcoming NFL year and the draft order I see as a possibility. Here we go!
