Looking at the early top 2021 NFL Draft positions of need for the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears were perhaps a double-doink missed field goal away from making a deep postseason run during the 2018 season. Seemingly everything that has happened to this franchise since this missed field goal has been a disaster.

Last season, Mitchell Trubisky took a major step back and cannot be counted on as any sort of franchise quarterback going forward. Trubisky looks lost in the pocket most of the time and struggles with accuracy to all fields. The stunted progression of Trubisky is a major issue for this team going forward.

The Bears did add some competition to their quarterback room this offseason. However, instead of taking a shot on a prospect in the draft or waiting out the quarterback market and paying a low price for Cam Newton, the Chicago Bears traded a fourth-round pick in order to pay Nick Foles pretty big money over the next two seasons. Foles has had a nice career, but is he really the guy who is going to turn this franchise around? Don’t bet on it.

In 2018, the Bears had the most dominant defensive unit in the entire NFL, showcasing top-tier talent across the unit. Unfortunately, the unit took a step back last season and leave a lot to be desired going forward. The Bears still have a strong defense, but they are far from the dominant unit that they seemed to building their team around before. This defense is not good enough to prop up a less than stellar offensive attack.

The Chicago Bears have found themselves in a tough position for the upcoming season and barring an unforeseen strong season out of Trubisky or Foles, I do not see them winning many games in the upcoming season. If this team struggles to reach seven or eight wins in 2020, expect significant changes to be made next offseason.

Simply put, a major rebuild could easily be on the horizon for the Bears, making the 2021 offseason extremely important. Even if the doomsday scenario does not happen, the Bears still have obvious needs on this roster that must be addressed, preferably with long-term pieces through the 2021 NFL Draft. In this post, we are going to take a look at the Bears’ roster and try to pinpoint their early needs for the 2021 NFL Draft.
