Jacksonville Jaguars 2021 mock draft: Projections after the fire sale
The departure of Ronnie Harrison makes the back end of the Jacksonville Jaguars very weak. The plan now is to start former Packers safety Josh Jones at Harrison’s vacated spot. If anyone was on the fence, that won’t work out well as a long term solution.
Richard LeCounte III isn’t being as talked about much in the 2021 NFL Draft class just yet, but he should be. LeCounte is versatile enough to play in a deep half and man up against tight ends. His work against Kyle Pitts last season was impressive. LeCounte displays good recognition skills and is competitive at the catch point.
The running back room in Jacksonville is very thin after Leonard Fournette was released. Rookie James Robinson will start the season as Ryquell Armstead sits on the COVID list, and Chris Thompson is there on passing downs.
If the Jaguars have the chance to pounce on taking Kenneth Gainwell this late in April, it’s a no-brainer. Gainwell has three-down upside, great contact balance, good agility in space, and natural hands in the receiving game.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are still hoping that Taven Bryan comes along in his development as a pass rusher from the interior. Jacksonville drafted Davon Hamilton back in April, but it will be interesting to see how he fits in a 4-3, as he excelled at the nose tackle spot in Columbus. Levi Onwuzurike thrives at the three-technique, where he can win with quickness to shoot gaps and make plays in the backfield.
