A fresh Jacksonville Jaguars 2021 mock draft following two trades on the defense.

It is now abundantly clear that the Jacksonville Jaguars are in fire sale mode. Many analysts believed that the Jaguars were a team that would have a rough 2020 season, but now the first overall pick is well within reach.

After months of speculation, Jacksonville moved edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings for a second-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick. Just days after that, Jacksonville was in the news again, trading away safety Ronnie Harrison to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick.

The Ngakoue trade was a long time coming, but trading Harrison was a surprise. He was a young safety who showed plenty of promise in his second NFL season. That move indicates that the organization could be ripped down from top to bottom next offseason. Head coach Doug Marrone is a lame duck whose firing appears to be imminent. The only question will be the timing.

It’s still wild to believe that this team was in the AFC Championship game just two years ago, going toe-to-toe with the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. The fall from there has been stunning, and now the rebuild (and tank) is on.

The good news is that whoever comes in next offseason will have budding young talent to work with, assuming more don’t get traded. Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson are a nice young edge duo. D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault will be fun to watch this season. Jawaan Taylor looks like the stalwart at right tackle many expected. C.J. Henderson has shutdown corner upside. Myles Jack and Joe Schobert are a fun linebacker duo.

There’s a lot of talent, but there’s plenty missing. Here, let’s fix it with my first seven-round 2021 mock of the year.
