Washington Football Team 2021 NFL Draft Need: Left Tackle

The Trent Williams situation significantly held Washington back last season and they were wise to trade him away over the offseason to the highest bidder. However, with Williams in San Francisco, Washington has a massive hole at the left tackle position that will likely need to be addressed next offseason.

Geron Christian is currently listed as the starting left tackle for the team, but he is a former third-round selection who has not exactly shined in his limited NFL experience. Behind Christian is Saahdiq Charles, a fourth-round rookie who does have some nice upside, but needs some work before he is really ready to handle left tackle duties in the NFL.

The Washington Football Team does have some theoretical upside at the left tackle position on their roster, but do not be surprised if left tackle ends up being a major position of need for this team when the 2021 NFL Draft comes around.

If Washington ends up holding a top-five pick next April, Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell will undoubtedly be on their radar. Sewell is an extremely gifted offensive tackle prospect who will quickly become one of the premier players at the positon at the next level. He may be the perfect first-round target for this team if they end up picking this high.

Possible 2021 NFL Draft targets: Penei Sewell, Samuel Cosmi, Jackson Carman, Jalen Mayfield and Dillon Radunz
