Washington Football Team: Early top positions of need for 2021 NFL Draft
Looking at some early 2021 NFL Draft needs for the Washington Football Team.
The Washington Football Team is an organization in transition, but they could quickly be moving in the right direction with a couple of strong moves. This offseason, Washington hired Ron Rivera to be their new head coach.
Rivera has since been diagnosed with cancer, which could limit his availability to the team. However, assuming he can beat the disease and do his job to his full capabilities (I mean, who’s going to fight harder than this guy?), Rivera is the perfect coach to lead the Washington Football Team into the future. This franchise needed some stability and Rivera undoubtedly brings plenty of stability to the table.
A lot of their immediate and long-term success comes down to the growth of young quarterback Dwayne Haskins. If Haskins can take a major step forward in 2020, Washington could legitimately have their franchise quarterback on the roster and look to build around him going forward. However, if he continues to struggle, this team could easily look to the 2021 NFL Draft to find his replacement. If they end up picking in the top two again, I imagine that quarterback will be on the radar.
That being said, there are plenty of other more obvious positions of need for us to watch early in the 2021 NFL Draft process. Obviously, these needs can, and probably will change throughout the course of the upcoming season, but it does not hurt to take an early look.
Let’s be honest, the Washington Football Team is not going to be seriously competitive this season and they could be quickly looking ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft anyway. Here, we are just going to get a bit of a head start and look at some early potential 2021 NFL Draft needs for the team.
