2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 6

Ja'Marr Chase. player. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. LSU. 6

If the Chicago Bears end up picking this high in the 2021 NFL Draft, I imagine that the quarterback position will be squarely on their radar. However, there is not a quarterback prospect available worth considering here, forcing the Bears to look in another direction.

The 2021 NFL Draft is absolutely loaded with talent at the wide receiver position. There are plenty of players who the Bears could bring in to help their current situation at wide receiver, but Ja’Marr Chase is clearly the top guy in the class and would be worthy of a pick this high.

Chase will not take the field for LSU this season, but he did more than enough last season to catch the attention of the NFL. He was the number one target in the historic LSU offense, piling up 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. Chase was a consistent playmaker for Joe Burrow last season and is set up for massive success at the next level.

Chase has good, but not great size, and is a good, but not a great athlete. He is never going to disappoint athletically, but he is not going to blow you away either. He is, however, a consistent playmaker at the position who knows how to make an impact on the game. Chase is a sharp and reliable route runner who has fantastic hands and create after the catch. His ability in contested-catch situations is top-notch and he has a great knack for finding space in the defense at all times.

If the Bears can re-sign Allen Robinson and bring Chase into the mix, they would have the making of arguably the best wide receiver duo in the entire NFL. No matter who ends up taking the long-term quarterback job for Chicago, they would have two elite options to work with on the outside.
