2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 2

Justin Fields. 2. player. Scouting Report. QB. Ohio State. Pick Analysis. 58

If quarterback Dwayne Haskins can come in and have a strong 2020 season, the Washington Football Team is unlikely to be picking this high in the 2021 NFL Draft. That being said, this team is not exactly loaded with talent and a top-two pick scenario like this is certainly possible. If Washington is bad enough to hold the second overall pick again, I am going to assume that Haskins did not play well, and taking a quarterback is a legitimate option.

With the second overall selection of this mock draft, Washington takes Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Moving on from Haskins so early may not be ideal, but new head coach Ron Rivera is unlikely to mess around with him for long if he does not believe that he can be the right guy. With this in mind, Fields makes a ton of sense here and would immediately take over as the face of their franchise.

Fields is a big and strong quarterback prospect who sees the field well and has impressive natural playmaking ability. He is a gifted natural passer who throws a great deep ball and is accurate to all levels of the field. Fields is also a strong athlete who shows impressive improvising skills when he needs to escape and make a play.

Simply put, Fields is a fantastic quarterback prospect who should be considered a legitimate threat to be the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The lack of a Big Ten season may hurt him a bit, but I have a hard time believing that Fields falls much further than this next April.
