2021 NFL Draft: Three-round mock draft featuring early quarterback run
2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 23
The Buffalo Bills are likely the favorites to win the AFC East this season and could be a true threat to the top dogs in the AFC. They have a well-rounded roster with few holes on either side of the ball. However, cornerback immediately stands out as their most obvious area of need.
The Bills have Tre’Davious White locking down one side of the field, but lack impact depth at the cornerback position. At No. 23 overall in this 2021 NFL Draft scenario, the Bills attack this cornerback need by bringing in Shaun Wade out of Ohio State.
Wade has been a star as a slot defender for the Buckeyes the last couple of seasons. He has the size and athleticism to handle outside duties but has yet to establish himself at the position. There may be a bit of unknown here, but Buffalo would be wise to bet on Wade’s talent and make him White’s long-term running mate.
2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 24
The Jets aggressively attacked their cornerback need earlier in this mock and here, they find themselves an exciting pass-rush prospect. Patrick Jones II is extremely quick off of the ball and shows impressive bend around the edge. He is relatively stout against the run and can close on the quarterback in an instant in the pass rush.
The Jets have lacked impact talent on the edge for many years and should be looking to aggressively attack the position in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jones is an extremely talented player who has real upside at the next level and would immediately help take their defensive unit to the next level.
