2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 11

OT. Samuel Cosmi. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 45. Texas. 11

Led by dynamic young quarterback Drew Lock, the Denver Broncos have put together an exciting long-term offense recently. This team has done a great job of surrounding Lock with a ton of weapons, as they will feature Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler in the passing game this coming season. Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon will hold down the backfield and help form one of the most intriguing groups of offensive playmakers in the entire NFL.

As great as the Broncos have done at surrounding Lock with playmakers, if their offensive line does not improve, he is never going to reach his massive ceiling. In particular, the left tackle position is a major issue as Garett Bolles continues to struggle at the position.

With the 11th pick of this mock draft, Denver invests in their offensive line, taking Samuel Cosmi as their left tackle replacement for Bolles.

Cosmi is an extremely athletic offensive lineman who shines when asked to attack in space. He gets off of the ball extremely quickly and consistently shows smooth movements on the field. Cosmi is quick and under control in pass protection and has the natural athleticism to take care of most raw speed rushers.

While he does lack ideal power up front, Cosmi does play with nice leverage and understands how to use angles to his advantage. There is some technique to clean up with this prospect (his hands are particularly sloppy), but Cosmi is undoubtedly a talented offensive tackle prospect who has massive upside at the next level. He feels like the perfect pick for Denver here at No. 11.
