3. Cornerback

The Giants have selected three cornerbacks in the past two drafts. That number could be four if you count Sam Beal who was taken in the 2018 supplemental draft which cost the Giants a third-round pick. Yet, the might have to take a corner again in this upcoming draft.

The young secondary was rough to watch last season. They yielded around 264 yards a game which put them 28th in the league. And now the preseason has gotten off to a rough start.

Former first-round pick, Deandre Baker was released by the Giants after being arrested on aggravated assault earlier in the summer. He wasn’t the only loss in the secondary. Sam Beal announced that he would be sitting out this season due to the pandemic.

Darnay Holmes has been marked as a break-out candidate for this season. But, his best position may be slot corner. Meanwhile, the Giants signed Logan Ryan to a one-year $7 million deal to man the outside. But, there are no guarantees after this season if the Giants will re-sign him.

The secondary may end up coming together nicely, but the Giants may need some more help. After recent years, and missing on Eli Apple and Deandre Baker, the G-men should look in the later rounds if they take a cornerback.
