Miami Dolphins: Early top positions of need for 2021 NFL Draft
Looking at early 2021 NFL Draft needs for the Miami Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins have done a great job of finding impact young talent in recent years and will be looking to do more of the same in the 2021 NFL Draft next April. At this time last year, many were accusing the Dolphins of tanking, as they looked to put themselves in a position to land a franchise quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.
However, despite their lack of established talent, this Miami team fought hard for head coach Brian Flores and finished the season with a better than expected 5-11 record. The Miami Dolphins were a dangerous team down the stretch and let themselves up for some potential success in the upcoming season.
Even though the Dolphins did not tank and ended up holding the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, they were still able to land their franchise quarterback. The ‘Tank for Tua’ whispers were all over the place at this time last year, but the Dolphins did not tank and still ended up with Tua Tagovailoa as their franchise quarterback.
This team still has many areas of need on the offensive side of the ball, but having that franchise quarterback in place is undoubtedly a game-changer. Sure, there are some injury concerns surrounding Tua, but if he can stay healthy, this guy is going to be a star at the next level. Whether Tagovailoa ends up making a significant impact in 2020 or not, he is the future of this franchise and is the single-most-important part of their short and long-term success.
As we look forward to the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have some obvious positions of need that must be addressed. However, nothing is more important than putting Tagovailoa in a position to succeed as soon as possible. Who can they add to the mix in order to get the most out of their young quarterback? Let’s take look.
