2021 NFL Draft: Five potential breakout prospects
4. Trevon Grimes, WR, Florida
Trevon Grimes was a big-time high school recruit out of NFL factory, St. Thomas Aquinas, and originally began his college football journey at Ohio State University. However, after a lack of playing time and turmoil within the Ohio State program, Grimes decided to transfer to the Florida Gators after his freshman season.
Since then, Grimes has been a nice piece to that Gator receiving core, hauling in 59 passes for 855 yards and 5 touchdowns in his two seasons in Gainesville.
He has done well to make an impact as a role player thus far in his career but I feel that 2020 is finally his year to break out as the guy for Kyle Trask and that Florida offense.
Grimes is a huge target standing at 6’5″ and he uses those long strides to create separation down the field consistently. He has really strong hands, uses his body to his advantage when the ball is in the air and shows off promise as a route runner as well.
The Gators lost four receivers to the NFL this offseason and will be looking at Grimes to help make up for those losses. If he can take his game to the next level, he will be their breakout star of 2020.
