Raiders: Yannick Ngakoue and three other trades they should make
3. Rasul Douglas, CB, Eagles
In the NFL today, you’re only as good as your depth.
The Raiders have tried and failed with a number of high draft selections at the cornerback positions in recent years, but they are obviously hoping that Trayvon Mullen and Damon Arnette can turn that around.
The Raiders brought in veteran Prince Amukamara this offseason as well, but could they look to add yet another cornerback to the mix?
It’s not impossible.
Rasul Douglas is entering his fourth NFL season and has been the subject of some trade rumors with the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though he’s shown potential with 25 career pass breakups and five interceptions, he hasn’t become the full-time player the Eagles had hoped he would as a former third-round pick.
With one year left on Douglas’ contract, now is the perfect time to talk trade with Eagles GM Howie Roseman, who is always looking to wheel and deal. Perhaps the Eagles and Raiders could find some common ground on a deal that would add value to both teams with Douglas coming in to potentially take the no. 2 outside corner spot from Amukamara with Arnette playing some nickel in his first season in the NFL.
Going up against so many talented receivers every week in the AFC West, the Raiders could bring in Douglas to give them enviable depth all over the secondary.
