Scouting Report. Texas. Samuel Cosmi. player. 56. Pick Analysis. OT. 5

The Cincinnati Bengals used their top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Heisman winner Joe Burrow. Their primary investment in the 2021 NFL Draft has to be protection for him.

There seem to be plenty of people who think the Bengals need to look at a wide receiver early on in the 2021 NFL Draft, and I’m not really sold on that. Even without AJ Green, their receiver group includes Tyler Boyd, John Ross, and now Tee Higgins.

The more pressing issue for the Bengals is on the offensive line. Burrow needs to be protected.

There aren’t many mock drafts anticipating this kind of rise from Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi yet, but there weren’t many mock drafts predicting Jedrick Wills and Mekhi Becton as top 10 picks at this time a year ago, either.

Cosmi has tremendous natural footwork and pass protection skills. With another year of development at Texas, it’s very possible he emerges as an OT1 caliber prospect.
