The Washington Football Team has a pleasant distraction from their offseason name change and ownership issues with the return of quarterback Alex Smith, whose gruesome knee injury a couple of years ago nearly cost him his NFL career.

The Washington Football Team doesn’t have enough talent offensively to likely make a lot of noise in the NFC East, but their defense is going to be nasty with Ron Rivera as the new head coach and Chase Young coming in as the team’s top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Washington has one of the most talented defensive front seven units in all of football.

If the team is picking this high next year, you might automatically assume quarterback and that’s not necessarily wrong. With that said, I think Washington has a better chance at long-term success by taking Penei Sewell here and maybe trying to commit another year to Dwayne Haskins.

Sewell is tremendous as a pass protector, and with Washington trading away Trent Williams during the 2020 NFL Draft, there’s no question left tackle is a top need for this team.

Trusting the process with Haskins is crucial, and getting him both protection and weapons is a necessary piece of that.
