Michigan. Aidan Hutchinson. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. DL. 27

The New England Patriots need to continue to re-fortify their defensive front after bringing in a number of talented but slightly unheralded edge players in the past couple of draft classes.

In the 2020 NFL Draft class, the Pats picked Josh Uche and Anfernee Jennings as edge players, and in 2019 they picked Uche’s former Michigan teammate Chase Winovich.

There’s a pattern developing with the Michigan defensive line/edge players and Aidan Hutchinson can keep it moving forward.

Hutchinson, to me, is one of the players hurt the most by not having a 2020 season, but he’s put enough on tape to potentially be a first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Hutchinson is different from Winovich and Uche in that he is more of a down defensive line type of player than a traditional off-the-edge type of player, and his versatility to play inside and outside will endear him to the Patriots.
