Justin Fields. 812. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. QB. 1. player

Washington holds the second overall pick in this mock draft, meaning in this world, they pick second overall two years in a row. Taking elite offensive tackle prospect Penei Sewell here at No. 2 to solidify their left tackle situation is tempting, but the opportunity to snag a potentially elite quarterback prospect could prove too tempting to pass up.

Washington obviously hopes that Haskins takes the quarterback job and runs with it in 2020, but if they are picking second overall again, his 2020 season probably did not go well. Instead of hoping for the best with Haskins going forward, the Washington Football Team puts the fate of their franchise into the hands of Justin Fields, the exciting quarterback prospect out of Ohio State.

While Fields is unlikely to see the field in 2020, he showed enough last season to warrant a selection this high. In his first year as a full-time starting college quarterback, Fields completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also carried the ball 137 times for 484 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Simply put, Fields was one of the most dynamic players in college football last season and has cemented himself as a premier quarterback prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft class.

Fields has tremendous natural arm talent, showing the ability to fit the ball into tight spaces with velocity and hit receivers using unique arm angles. He has a quick release, throws an impressive deep ball and shows consistent accuracy to all levels of the field.

Fields is also a natural playmaker at the quarterback position who feels pressure well and has the innate ability to escape pressure and make plays off-schedule. He does not possess elite speed at the quarterback position, but he is fast enough and is a big and powerful runner who can be difficult for any one defender to bring down. Fields is not going to wow you with many explosive runs, but he is undoubtedly a very good athlete at his position.

While he is a bit of an underdeveloped player, Fields has tremendous upside as a franchise quarterback at the next level. If Haskins does not show significant growth in 2020, taking a shot on a guy like Fields at the top of the draft has to be under consideration for the Washington Football Team.
