5. New Orleans Saints

Rounding out the list are the New Orleans Saints, perhaps another surprise for some. The Saints have been close to a Super Bowl berth in the last few seasons, but haven’t been able to close the deal. Drew Brees is under contract for two more seasons, so the window for the Saints is short, depending on how they feel about backup Jameis Winston. The next couple of seasons need to be about loading up for a run. They landed Cesar Ruiz, Zack Baun, and Adam Trautman in the 2020 draft to help contribute this fall.

If they don’t get it done in 2020, 2021 could be one last ride for Brees. With one of the best well-rounded rosters in the league, the Saints could afford a luxury pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are already in the building, but imagine adding someone with dynamic, explosive ability like Rondale Moore into Sean Payton’s offense. Moore could see a lot of slot snaps and line up as a receiver out of the backfield.

New Orleans would have an offense that would be extremely difficult to stop with Moore in the building, and he could put the Saints over the top and end Brees’ career on a high note.
