Jacksonville Jaguars: Rookie expectations for the 2020 season
Fourth-Round Pick Expectations
Ben Bartch, OT
2020 expectation: Could see starts late in the season
Ben Bartch was one of the more popular small school prospects over the course of the 2020 NFL Draft process and for good reason.
A former tight end, Bartch shows ideal movement skills and footwork that make a man of his size very valuable at the next level. He will need to add NFL strength and work on some more advanced technique before he is ready to be a full-time starter but he has proven to be a fast learner in his two years playing on the O-line.
If A.J. Cann continues his struggles at the right guard spot in 2020, fans could see Bartch get an opportunity to showcase his raw skills sooner rather than later.
Josiah Scott, CB
2020 expectation: Special teams role, learn behind D.J. Hayden at nickel
Josiah Scott was a highly productive player during his time with Michigan State and should settle into a role as D.J. Hayden’s primary backup in year-one with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is a sharp player that shows sticky coverage ability and mental processing that could lead to him seeing snaps on defense in 2020.
However, I think the majority of his work will come on special teams as a gunner. His speed and aggressive style of play are perfect for that role.
Shaquille Quarterman, LB
2020 expectation: Primary inside-linebacker backup
Shaquille Quarterman was one of my favorite picks of the Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 NFL Draft class. He is a highly experienced, smart, aggressive player that fits the mold of that traditional, old-school linebacker that is still valuable in today’s NFL.
Quarterman excels in the run game, where the Jaguars have struggled mightily over the past couple of seasons, so I think fans could see him get some early-down work throughout his rookie campaign, while also helping out on special teams.
