2021 NFL Draft: Five team fits for Minnesota WR Rashod Bateman
5. New York Jets
Last on the list are the New York Jets. New York struggled once again in 2019, and the jury is still out on quarterback Sam Darnold. Most analysts believe that Adam Gase’s offense is still holding Darnold back, especially with the lack of talent in the pass-catching group.
Back in April, the Jets, under general manager Joe Douglas, finally made strides to helping Darnold. In the first round, they selected tackle Mekhi Becton, who brings great physicality and movement skills for a 360-pound lineman. New York selected wide receiver Denzel Mims in the second round, who should bring a vertical element to the offense, as he’s great at stacking corners to work down the field.
It’s unlikely the Jets will make the playoffs in 2020, so they’ll once again look to the 2021 NFL Draft to keep reloading. After trading Jamal Adams, the Jets have two first-round picks and two second-rounders. Just because they added Mims back in April, does not mean they are set at wide receiver. Rashod Bateman would look great opposite Mims at receiver and would give Darnold a quick separator who could work all levels of the field.
