2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch from Independent schools

Notre Dame – Ian Book, Quarterback, Senior
By far the most well known Independent, Notre Dame has a slew of NFL prospects each year. Looking ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft, the player for the Fighting Irish with perhaps the most questions marks about where he’ll end up is Ian Book. Having shown progression each season at Notre Dame, Book is hoping for the final leap to propel him into a top prospect.
Under center during the 2019 season, Book totaled 3,034 passing yards with an impressive 34 touchdowns and just six interceptions. What compliments Book’s passing ability is his ability to create plays on the ground as well. On 112 carries, Book ran for 546 yards and an additional four touchdowns.
Although Book’s season might not jump out across the country, he has been able to prove himself as a viable NFL contributor. Last year he became the first quarterback in program history to throw for at least 2,500 yards, run for at least 500 yards and throw 30 touchdowns in a single season. The only other quarterback to reach that milestone in the FBS? Jalen Hurts, who went to the Eagles in the second round. That could be a good sign for Book’s value in the upcoming draft.
