Expectation: Become WR1 sooner rather than later

The Raiders obviously prioritized Henry Ruggs III in the 2020 NFL Draft, and for good reason.

Ruggs has incredible track speed but it’s really his play speed and ability to translate that speed to football that makes him special.

Unlike a lot of smaller, speedy receivers, Ruggs is a very tough and often physical player who is not a track athlete in a football uniform, but a football player with truly elite speed.

Ruggs should be expected to make a substantial impact for the Raiders right away, and that impact should be no less than the team’s WR1 sooner rather than later.

The Raiders did sign Tyrell Williams last offseason but he’s going to be best suited as a WR2 and that’s okay.

Ruggs has to prove that, outside of the Alabama offense, he can be a featured weapon in the passing game and consistently face up and win matchups against the opposing team’s best defensive backs.
