2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch: PAC-12 Conference

Washington State – Max Borghi, Running Back, Junior
It might be a little shocking to see a running back listed for a team that has become known for their passing game, but it’s that exact reason that Max Borghi could draw interest from NFL teams during the 2020 season. With the ability to produce in the run and the pass, Borghi has the potential, keyword potential, to be a player similar to Christian McCaffrey.
During the 2019 season, Borghi led the Cougars in rushing yards by a landslide, totaling 817 yards on 127 attempts for an impressive 11 touchdowns. He then added a team-high 86 receptions to his stat line, going for an additional 597 yards and five touchdowns via the passing game.
Leading a team in receptions that relies so heavily on the pass as a running back isn’t something you see from every team or player. With Mike Leach now at Mississippi State, it’ll be interesting to see how Washington State utilizes Borghi’s skill set.
As I said, the potential is there for a Christian McCaffrey-like player in Borghi. He is a reliable set of hands out of the backfield, but can also create plays on the ground as well while having a knack for finding the end zone. Should be producing another similar season in 2020 with some improvement, he could very well enter the 2021 NFL Draft as a major sleeper pick.
