Second round: Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State

It’s very difficult to believe that one of the best cornerbacks of my upbringing — Asante Samuel — has a son that is about to make it to the NFL.

Asante Samuel Jr. has been putting together a very nice NFL resumé over the past two seasons at Florida State and really emerged in 2019 with 49 tackles and 14 pass breakups along with an interception.

Through two seasons with the Seminoles, Samuel Jr. has 23 pass breakups total and is proving himself especially in man coverage despite being just 5-foot-10, 185 pounds.

The Washington Football Team gets a very good value here in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft as Samuel Jr. is being talked about as a player who could potentially be in the first round conversation.

He led the ACC in pass breakups last season and he’s proving that shutting down receivers is in his blood.
